A virtual fence for your Garmin Alpha. Draw it on our map, and we call you when your dog crosses it.
Fence Alerter relays your dog's position from your Garmin handheld to our servers. You draw a fence on our satellite map, watch your dog live on your phone or computer, and if he crosses the line your phone rings and gets a text. No new collar, no new hardware.
Works with the Garmin Alpha 200 and 300 series with TT / T collars, on any Windows PC.

How it works
Ten minutes to set up. Nothing changes on your collar or your handheld's tracking.
Check your handheld
Turn on the collar and make sure your Garmin handheld shows your dog's location. If the handheld can see the dog, so can we.
Plug the handheld into a PC
On the handheld: Setup > System > Mass Storage Mode (BaseStation) > Prompted. Connect it to any Windows PC with its USB cable and answer Yes to BaseStation on the handheld.
Start the Fence Alerter client
Download it from your portal, run it and sign in with your email and password. If Windows shows a blue "protected your PC" screen, click More info, then Run anyway. It relays the handheld's dog positions to our servers, runs in the background and updates itself. Read-only: it never sends anything to the collar.
Leave the PC on
Set the PC to never sleep or turn off (Windows Settings > System > Power & sleep > Never) and leave it running with the handheld plugged in.
Draw your fence, add your numbers
In the portal, trace your property on the satellite map, pin the kennel and add up to three phone numbers. If your dog crosses the line, or the PC loses its connection to our servers, we call and text you.
Built for dog people, not gadget people
Your handheld already tracks the dog. We relay that to our servers and watch the fence for you, around the clock.
Live map on phone or PC
Your dog, his last minute of movement, your fence and kennel on Google satellite imagery, on any phone or computer browser.
Calls that don't quit
Outside the fence for three updates? We call and text you, then keep calling every 45 seconds until a real person answers.
Collar battery & signal
See the collar's battery at a glance. Optional calls when the battery is critical or the collar goes silent for 10 minutes.
Nothing to install on your phone
Alerts arrive as regular phone calls and text messages, so they work on any phone with no app. Nothing is ever sent to the dog or the collar.
Private and encrypted
Your positions travel encrypted from your PC to our server. Only you can see your dog.
Read-only by design
The client only listens to the handheld. It cannot send training commands to the collar, ever. Your dog's comfort is not something we touch.

Questions
Which Garmin devices work?
Alpha 200, 200i, 200 Plus, 300 and 300i handhelds with their TT and T series collars, using Garmin's BaseStation mode over USB. Alpha 100 and Astro 320/430 handhelds also support BaseStation and should work; contact us if you have one.
Does the PC have to stay on?
Yes. The handheld plugs into a Windows PC (a small always-on PC or an old laptop is fine) and the Fence Alerter client runs in the background. If the PC or handheld goes down, we can call you about that too.
How fast are updates?
As fast as your collar reports: 2.5 seconds to 30 seconds depending on the update rate you set on the handheld. Faster rates use more collar battery.
Can it shock or correct my dog?
No. The client cannot send training commands. It is technically incapable of it, not just configured not to.
Where does my data go?
Encrypted from your PC to the Fence Alerter server. Position history is kept for 30 days for your own review and then deleted.
